The Columbus Blue Jackets will be without Marian Gaborik for the next four to six weeks due to a sprained left knee.

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Marian Gaborik is expected to miss 4-6 weeks because of a sprained left knee that he suffered during the their overtime loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

The Blue Jackets acquired Gaborik from the New York Rangers at the trade deadline last season and he is currently in the final year of his contract that pays him $7.5 million per year.

The 31-year-old winger has five goals and six assists in 17 games this season.

Given his contract status and the struggles of the Blue Jackets this season (they are currently in last place in the Metropolitan Division) there has been some speculation that he could be on the trade block once again this season. Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch said on Thursday that, barring a "dramatic change," he doesn't see any chance the Blue Jackets attempt to re-sign Gaborik.
