The Habs are up 2-1 heading into the second period.
The Habs drew the opening penalty of the game as Brendan Gallagher kept his feet moving and was tripped coming into the Blue Jackets' zone. Then, as the Habs expertly moved the puck around the offensive zone, Max Pacioretty found himself wide open and took a pass from Andrei Markov which he hammered into the back of the net on a beautiful one-timer.
Nathan Beaulieu looks more comfortable with the puck with each passing game. He played 8:53 in the first period, coming off a game Thursday against the Panthers in which he played a season-high 25:10 and had four shots on net.
Max Pacioretty took a few rests on the bench and went back to the exact same spot he scored his first goal and took a pass from Nathan Beaulieu which he fired off for his second goal of the game. It was his 29th goal of the year and puts him one away from registering 30 goals in a season for the third time in his career.
The first period was played evenly with the Blue Jackets leading the Habs 25-22 in shot attempts.
